BIDITPRO CONTRACTOR INSURANCE GUIDELINES

Effective Date: April 2, 2026

1. OVERVIEW

Insurance is optional for Contractors on BidItPro. However, we strongly recommend that all Contractors maintain valid insurance coverage appropriate for the services they provide. Contractors who upload and verify insurance documentation receive a verified insurance trust badge displayed prominently on their profile, signaling professionalism and trustworthiness to homeowners.

Insurance status does not affect a Contractor's ability to submit bids or accept jobs on the Platform. Bidding eligibility is determined by BidItPro's account approval process, not insurance status.

2. THE VERIFIED INSURANCE TRUST BADGE

Contractors who upload valid insurance documentation and pass our verification process receive a verified insurance trust badge. This badge:

  • Is displayed on the Contractor's public profile visible to homeowners
  • Signals that the Contractor carries active, verified insurance coverage
  • May increase homeowner confidence and improve bid acceptance rates
  • Distinguishes the Contractor from uninsured competitors
  • Is automatically removed if insurance documentation expires and is not renewed

The trust badge is a significant competitive advantage. Homeowners often prefer Contractors with verified insurance when evaluating bids.

3. RECOMMENDED INSURANCE COVERAGE

We recommend General Liability Insurance with:

  • Minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence
  • Minimum $2,000,000 aggregate
  • Coverage for property damage
  • Coverage for bodily injury
  • Coverage for completed operations

4. SERVICE-SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATIONS

Tree Service Contractors: In addition to general liability, tree service contractors should carry: additional coverage for aerial/climbing work; equipment coverage for chainsaws and chippers; and coverage for work near power lines. Recommended additional coverage: $2,000,000 per occurrence.

Roofing Contractors: Roofing contractors should maintain: coverage specifically for roofing operations; fall protection coverage; and coverage for work at heights. Many insurers require specific roofing endorsements.

Lawn Care Contractors: Standard general liability typically suffices. Ensure coverage includes: chemical application (if offering fertilization/weed control); equipment operation; and property damage from mowing/edging.

Fencing Contractors: Ensure coverage for: underground utility damage; post-hole digging operations; and materials storage on customer property.

Pool Cleaning Contractors: Ensure coverage includes: chemical handling and storage; liability for pool equipment damage; and slip-and-fall incidents on wet surfaces.

House Cleaning Contractors: Ensure coverage includes: property damage while working inside homes; theft or loss coverage; and injury on the premises.

5. VERIFICATION PROCESS

Step 1 - Upload Documentation: From your Contractor profile, upload a Certificate of Insurance (COI) showing: your business name (must match registration); coverage amounts; policy effective and expiration dates; insurance company name and contact; and policy number.

Step 2 - Review: Our team reviews submissions within 1-2 business days. We may contact your insurance provider to verify coverage.

Step 3 - Badge Activation: Once verified, your verified insurance trust badge is activated and displayed on your profile. You will receive email confirmation.

Step 4 - Ongoing Maintenance: To keep your trust badge active, upload updated documentation before your policy expires.

6. ACCEPTABLE DOCUMENTATION

We accept: Certificate of Insurance (COI) - preferred; declarations page from your policy; or letter from your insurance agent on company letterhead. Documents must be: clearly legible; current (not expired); and in PDF, JPG, or PNG format.

7. POLICY EXPIRATION AND BADGE REMOVAL

You will receive reminders at: 30 days before expiration; 14 days before expiration; 7 days before expiration; and on the expiration date. If your insurance expires without renewal: your verified insurance trust badge is removed from your profile; your ability to bid and accept jobs is not affected; and you may re-upload documentation at any time to restore the badge.

8. ADDITIONAL INSURED

BidItPro does not require being listed as an additional insured on your policy. However, homeowners may request this for specific jobs, which you may accommodate at your discretion.

9. WORKERS COMPENSATION

If you have employees, you must comply with your state's workers compensation requirements. While BidItPro does not verify workers comp coverage, failure to maintain legally required coverage may violate applicable law and our Terms of Service.

10. FALSE DOCUMENTATION

Submitting false, forged, or altered insurance documentation will result in: immediate account termination; removal of the verified insurance trust badge; reporting to relevant authorities; potential legal action; and permanent ban from the platform.

11. YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

Regardless of whether you upload insurance to BidItPro, you are solely responsible for maintaining any insurance coverage required by applicable law for the services you perform. BidItPro does not provide insurance coverage and is not responsible for any claims arising from uninsured or underinsured Contractor activity.
